The Millworks by Megan Davis

Pretty excited for this one! I was thrilled when Josh and Rachael Kesler approached me to work on their branding for their new project: renovating a 1920's building into a farm-to-table restaurant, a roof top beer garden, art galleries and 25 studio spaces for practicing artists. Lucky for me this will be right in my neighborhood, so I am especially looking forward to it. To learn more about the Millworks look here.

Above is the finalized logo, and below are a few of the other options presented.

I have a project that I have been quietly working on for some time now. It is about murals. Who doesn't love a good mural? Why doesn't Harrisburg have more? Why is it that few people are aware of the murals we do have? AND, most importantly, how can murals (and public art in general) benefit Harrisburg?

I have lots to say in response to all of these questions, but in good time. Co-founders- Liz Laribee, Jeff Copus and I are just getting started/organized and soon enough you will want me to shut up about murals already.

For now, I thought I would share some initial logo concepts we are working on. Oh, and our name: Sprocket Mural Works.

Our website will be up and running in the next few weeks, and if you are interested, there will be plenty of ways to participate. Check back here for updates.

An example of a wall in Harrisburg that would be much happier with a mural on it. This is a mock up of what it could potentially be. Like the artwork? It is by Lisa Congdon, and you can buy it on 20X200.com

Rubicon is a soon to be open restaurant by the owners of Mangia Qui & Suba.

I began working on branding the restaurant (which is bar focused, with french inspired plates), about a year ago. They completely gutted an old building and construction, as often happens, has taken longer than expected. But things seem to be coming together pretty quickly in these past few weeks. I cannot even begin to say how open and dramatic the space has become.

Recently we finalized paint colors, signage and the gold leaf designs for the windows. Gold leaf! Up next is the web build and menu design.

Looking forward to sharing these designs here, but until we are launched I thought it would be fun to show were we started- one of the mood boards I presented to them long ago.

I used to buy a lot of domain names. I have since stopped, because it turns out they tend to go unused.

One that I currently own and am determined to make into a real live website is HBGHaiku.com. I think it could potentially be a fun little website, and I imagine there are a few people in this town who might find it entertaining to submit a haiku. Here is the design I am working on, now I just need to bribe a developer to build it for me.

Dani Fresh Logo Design by Megan Davis

If you have not had the pleasure of meeting Dani Fresh, you should probably put it on your bucket list. Aside from being incredibly entertaining and kind, she is also superbly talented. We try and take advantage of her skills for TheBurg as often as possible, usually in the form of portraits.

When she approached me to develop a new logo for her, I was of course excited. She wanted something simple and clean, and abstract. We started investigating marks that slightly referenced camera lenses and this is where we landed.
